Exactly ten years after his removal from office, former Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng returned to the front row of the Diên Hồng Hall to attend the first session of the 16th National Assembly. His eldest son—Politburo member Nguyễn Thanh Nghị—serves as a deputy for this term.

The 16th National Assembly opened its first session on the morning of April 6. Dũng attended as an invited guest alongside former General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, with both seated among the current top leaders of the Communist Party and the state.
