The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has introduced a new proposal within the Draft Policy Dossier for the revised Penal Code that would fundamentally alter how pre-trial psychiatric care is calculated into prison sentences.

The Latest: Released on April 17, the draft policy submission outlines several new directions for the nation’s legal framework. On page 12, in the section “Policy implementation solutions,” the MPS officially proposes that people who are forced to have medical treatment during the investigation, prosecution, and trial stages should have that time taken off their final prison sentences.
