“Under the sacred red flag with a yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly, compatriots, and voters nationwide, I, the State President of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, solemnly swear to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, and to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam and to strive to fulfill all duties entrusted to me by the Party, the State, and the people.”

Tô Lâm, the incumbent General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, delivered these above words on the morning of April 7 after being elected President with 100 percent approval from the 16th National Assembly. [1]
