The Latest: On May 12, police in Huế City announced the detention of Mai Hoàng, the owner of the Facebook account “Hoàng Mai Huế.” Authorities are investigating him under Clause 2, Article 331 of the 2015 Penal Code for “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the state and the lawful rights and interests of organizations and individuals.”

​The Details: According to investigators, the “Hoàng Mai Huế” account repeatedly posted content and livestreamed videos that authorities characterized as “accusatory,” “distorted,” and “insulting” toward local court officials, civil judgment enforcement authorities, police, and Huế City leaders.
