The Latest: On May 12, the Security Investigation Agency of the Đồng Tháp Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Trần Ngọc Sương. Born in 1956 and residing in Gò Công Ward, Sương is being investigated for the alleged offense of “making, storing, disseminating, or propagating information and materials aimed at opposing the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam” under Article 117 of the Penal Code.

​The Details: According to the agency, Sương contacted Nguyễn Đình Thắng to give interviews and additionally provided and shared videos and documents that are alleged to have distorted the guidelines of the party and the policies of the state.
